Cycling Skills program info from Comox Valley CC
By offering the CanBike courses to adults (particularly seniors) we
were able to develop a team of volunteers who helped with the Bike
Skills Rodeos we offered at the elementary schools (focusing on grades 3
to 5). We were able to purchase equipment necessary to run these
rodeos including bikes that we could loan to the children who did not
have an appropriate bike to use and a trailer to transport and store all
these items. The other thing funded was a part-time coordinator for
the year.
Although the funding and paid position have ended
the program is established and bike rodeos are being run at almost all
of the elementary schools in the district.
As well we have
ongoing adult courses - all thanks to Ed Schum's teaching of course!
This is an essential piece if we are to get more volunteers.
I
have just put these stats together for our AGM so though I would attach
them so you can see the numbers - hope they make sense -
I am ccing this also to James Taylor the CVCCo President and to Ed Schum.
